After facing the threat of the store closing, we have survived...for now. With the way things have been lately, we're not sure if we will be able to stay open much longer. Sales are far below average, and if they don't improve, we will be unable to stay open. What can you do? Besides buying all your books from us, tell as many people you can to shop at our store. You can also encourage all the local schools to send their teachers and students in for class reading, or have us do a Book Fair at their school. Also, keep in mind we offer quantity discounts to Book Clubs, so gather everyone together to support Little Old Bookshop! We will soon be changing our name to 'WHITTIER BOOKS' in an effort to reach out to more people, and more truly represent our expanded offerings at our new location.

Jack Call , author of "God is a Symbol of Something True"
Jack Call teaches philosophy at Citrus College. He has published essays on the relations betweeen philosphy, religion and social science.
"God is a Symbol of Something True" has a central claim that everything is fundamentally all right, in spite or because of the fact that there are important things one cares about deeply, over which one has no control. This is a way of understanding religion that rejects the false dilemma of choosing either literalistic theism or scientism.
"No doubt, whether novice or expert, readers will enjoy this insightful and clearly written book!" Kurt Smith, Ph.D Philosophy Professor, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, author of Matter Matters
Our thanks go out to Jack and his wife. The candy they left is gone, but you can still get a copy of his book at L.O.B.!
